“FESTINS, les photographes à table!”, Photaumnales, Beauvais, France, 2024. Curated by Emmanuelle Halkin.
21.09.2024 - 31.12.2024
The Poverty Line - Beauvais Station Park
Tell me what you eat, what you consume and I will tell you who you are! This observation will be at the heart of the programming of the 2024 edition of the Photaumnales in Beauvais, in Beauvaisis and Clermontois through the works of 25 artists, this edition will focus on showing how our consumer society views the fact of feeding itself as well as the production and presentation of food.
Nourishing our bodies of course, but also nourishing our minds: what we eat, what we see, what we are in the society of the living, what we experience in our respective daily lives and how this can influence our way of thinking. In short, a diet that resembles us, that brings us together, but very often that also separates us, through economic issues and cultural stereotypes. We will also discuss healing foods and ancient diets, so deeply adapted to very specific territories and populations, and which can become real social and sometimes spiritual markers.
The links between consumption and sustainability, food and new technologies will also be discussed, and how the emergence of new consumption patterns can create new economies and new practices.
