Equivalence – 100:1
2016 - ongoing.
Equivalence 100:1 is an ongoing series that investigates daily phenomena via statistical, mathematical and computational techniques to highlight global issues of our time.
Each value of 1 item in the centre of the large format grid is equal to the value of 100 items around it.
The visual uniformity of the items masks an underlying layer of contrast, alluding to the subjective value of money depending on the user and audience. The items chosen are ready-made, consumable items found in an urban society. The value of the items can be translated into the functionality and needs that it fulfils or creates, an uneasy dynamic reflection of our social norms and structures.
Equal it is, it is not.
